What are
Full Mouth Implants?

smile

Full mouth implants offer a fixed, long-term alternative to dentures for patients with failing or missing teeth. An entire arch of teeth is replaced with a custom-made bridge, providing a stable and permanent solution without the need to replace each tooth individually.

Why Choose Lynbrook Dental Care for Full Mouth Implants?

Lynbrook Dental Care is part of the My Dentist Network, one of Melbourne’s largest and most experienced dental groups, with a team that covers everything from general dentistry through to specialist oral surgery.

Our implant cases are led by Dr Naser Albarbari (MSc, MOMS Glasgow, FDS England, FDS Edinburgh), a registered specialist oral surgeon, and Dr Jeevan Sivalingam (BDSc Hons, GradDip Dental Sleep Medicine), who specialises in complex implant rehabilitation. They work alongside our general dental team in Lynbrook, including Dr Sanjana Illango (BDS) and Dr Chris Ngo (DDS).

How do full mouth implants work?

Full mouth implants involve placing 4 to 6 dental implants into the jaw, which then support a full set of specially designed teeth, restoring both function and appearance. Our specialist surgeon uses a digitally designed surgical guide, with every step carried out in-house at Lynbrook Dental Care.

The full mouth dental implant procedure involves:

  • Removing any remaining teeth and placing the implants
  • Fitting a temporary bridge within 48 hours while everything heals
  • Inserting your final implant bridge once healing is complete, usually around three months later

IV sedation or local anaesthetic is available for all stages of treatment.

The Full Mouth Dental Implant Process

1

Consultation

In your initial appointment at Lynbrook Dental Care, we’ll talk to you about your dental journey. We will then assess your teeth, bone and bite using a CBCT X-ray and 3D digital intraoral scans. We’ll make sure you are a good candidate and discuss alternative options and risks of the procedure as well.

2

Placing the implants

Based on our comprehensive records, we will have constructed a precise surgical guide that allows treatment to be performed under guidance. At this appointment, we remove all remaining teeth and place 4 to 6 dental implants. Within 48 hours, you will have a temporary bridge or denture that you can use for 3 months to ensure everything is healed.

3

Final Implant Bridge

Your final full mouth implant bridge is inserted. We would have taken some new scans a few weeks before and given you a trial mockup of your smile for your approval. The final bridge will come with a titanium backing for excellent strength and simply gets screwed into your existing implants.

All treatment carries risks. Individual consultations are required with one of our practitioners to ensure that the treatment is right for you. Any surgical or invasive procedure carries risks. Before proceeding you should seek a second opinion from an appropriately qualified health practitioner.
